As announced in this executive summary: HuntersForFairChase.com/wp-content/uploads/2018status.pdf, in January 2018 Hunters for Fair Chase suspended efforts to place the Native Missouri Wildlife Conservation Amendment (NMWCA) on the November 2018 ballot. This was due to pending Missouri Supreme Court action on Hill v MDC, the industry lawsuit that blocked regulations urgently needed to prevent new outbreaks of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD).
After the unexpectedly rapid and sweeping action taken by the Missouri Supreme Court in July 2018, HFFC will monitor the situation until the full impact of the decision is made clear and the Missouri Conservation Commission makes clear how it will proceed.
If necessary the NMWCA could be modified and re-filed for the November 2020 election.
HFFC is grateful for the support offered by so many conservation organizations and individual supporters and volunteers. We pledge to continue our effort to protect the future of wild deer and elk in Missouri until it is clear there are no obstacles to the Missouri Conservation Commission fulfilling its duty to protect the health of wild deer for future generations.
